In a regular camera app, Full HD video runs roughly 100 to 150 MB per minute, so a one-hour match is somewhere between 6 and 9 GB. Videotapr records at 4 Mbps by default, about 30 MB per minute: a 30-second clip is about 15 MB, and ten saved clips come to about 150 MB. The biggest saving is not the bitrate, though; buffer-based capture simply writes far fewer seconds. Why do the numbers vary so much?
Bitrate. A regular camera app adjusts how much data it spends per second based on what is in frame. A static shot of an empty court compresses far better than twenty players moving against a detailed background, so the same minute can differ by a factor of two.
Resolution and frame rate matter too in a regular camera app. Videotapr works differently: it records at 4 Mbps by default, so an SD (Android), HD or Full HD clip takes up about the same space. The File size setting is what changes it: Small is 2 Mbps, Normal is 4 Mbps, and Original uses your phone's own default. HD in the free version is a product choice, not a way to save space.

Does the buffer itself use storage?
Only a little, and it does not grow. The rolling buffer is a short temporary file inside the app that is constantly overwritten. Only the clips you save end up in your gallery, so the space Videotapr uses does not grow with the length of the session. What gets saved is only the clip length you chose.
What should I do if my phone is nearly full?
- Use shorter clips — 10 seconds instead of 30 cuts the size by two thirds.
- Set File size to Small: a 30-second clip drops from about 15 MB to about 7.5 MB.
- Move clips off the phone after each session; they are ordinary video files.
- Delete the clips you tapped by mistake, straight from the sessions list.
